Michael holds a BSc in Biosciences, an MSc in Regenerative Medicine and a PhD in Translational Biomedicine from Swansea University. He carried out his PhD research at Houston Methodist Research Institute in Texas where he focussed on fatty acid metabolism in ovarian cancer and continued exploring cancer metabolism in a postdoctoral role at Barts Cancer Institute in London.
